Hair Today and Tomorrow Too!

Emma Field and friends from Elle Vie Salon in Andover raised over £600 by doing a gruelling 24 hour Hair and Nailathon fundraiser.

Sophie’s Appeal is close to Emma’s heart as her daughter is a Wilm’s Tumour survivor.

Huge thanks to the girls and to the customers – especially those who braved the challenge in the closing minutes!

Over 300 people took part in a 5km fun run this morning along the runway at Southampton Airport.

Kevin Montgomery, airport fire service station manager and co-organiser of the event added: “It was an early start but a fantastic way to welcome dawn on the longest day of the year – running along our runway. “We have enjoyed fantastic support from Southampton Airport and its staff over the last ten years and the money raised from this event will make a huge difference to the lives of many local children battling or recovering from life threatening illnesses.”

The prizes for the fastest individuals went to Pete Sansome from Bishopstoke (Fastest Male), Karen Andrews from Hedge End (Fastest Female) and Sophie Jones from Chandlers Ford (Fastest Junior – aged 12). It's Good to Talk

Sophie’s Appeal was proud to help a get together for parents bereaved by childhood cancer and those with children currently in remission or undergoing treatment.

One bereaved mum whose little girl was treated at Piam Brown Children’s Cancer Ward in Southampton said,

‘You have no idea how much it meant to myself and many others that attended, to be able to spend time with other parents that just understood how each other felt.

There were a few bereaved parents, I myself am one of those and it was just so nice to be able to relax and just talk to parents in the same boat as me as well as parents with children still going through treatment and in remission. We were able to laugh, chat and just have fun without having to worry.

We all just 'got it'.’

Quizical Evening Raises over £500

Friends and supporters of Sophie’s Appeal joined our Patrons, James and Sarah Beattie, at our Spring Quiz held at Fleming Park Bowls Club.

Our quiz master, Paul, tested the teams knowledge with 8 rounds of brain bashing and the raffle was well supported.

The evening was hotly contested with the winners being decided by a penalty quiz off with ‘The Don’t Knows’ pipping our reigning champions ‘The Sherbert Lemons’ to the title.

At the other end of the table it was also close with ‘The Shy Teds’ narrowly beating ‘ The Gannetts minus one’ and ‘The Twits’ to the Wooden Spoon.

Thank you to everyone who supported the evening raising over £500 and helping put smiles onto more poorly children’s faces.
